Prepare an open mold bike frame RFQ with model, compatibility, sample, branding, documentation and commercial questions for suppliers.
An open mold bike frame RFQ should identify the exact model, project market, frame or frameset scope, required interfaces, customization limits, sample expectations, documents and order questions. The goal is to make supplier quotations comparable without assuming that a generic open mold description applies to every model.
Include target market, sales channel, customer, product role, intended use, complete-bike or frameset scope, target launch timing and required language or documents.
Ask the supplier to quote against a model name, SKU and revision. Request current geometry or drawing information, size range, wheel and tire limits, headset, bottom bracket, axle, brake, drivetrain, seatpost, cable-routing and accessory-mount details where applicable.
Ask which elements are fixed and which can be reviewed: logo, paint, decals, packaging, component selection, small interface changes, geometry, tooling and design files. Ask whether the same platform is offered to other buyers and how revisions are identified.
Specify the sample configuration, sample documents, inspection points, image requirements, packaging review and approval owner. State how requested changes are recorded and when a new sample is required.
Request model-specific material/process information, inspection records, applicable test documents, manuals, product data and image permissions. Do not ask the supplier to make a general certification or performance statement that is not tied to the selected model, size and configuration.
Ask the supplier to confirm, for the exact project:
These fields are questions for quotation, not universal open mold specifications. Use the Bicycle MOQ Guide and Packaging and Labeling Guide for related workflows.
We are reviewing an open mold bike frame project for [market/customer]. Please quote model [name/SKU/revision] for [frame/frameset/complete bike]. Confirm geometry, sizes, wheel/tire clearance, headset, bottom bracket, axle, brake, drivetrain and seatpost interfaces. Please state what can be customized, whether the platform is shared with other buyers, sample terms, evidence/documents available, MOQ, lead-time estimate, packaging, product data, image rights, spare parts and change-control terms. Please identify every assumption and pending confirmation in the quotation.
No. An open mold RFQ starts with an existing platform and asks what is available and configurable. A private mold brief usually requires a separate design, engineering, tooling, validation and ownership discussion.
No. Establish the exact model, configuration and deliverables first. A unit price is not comparable when samples, packaging, documents or customization scope differ.
